Child Opportunity Zone (COZ)

As the designated COZ site in Woonsocket, CCF works with the Fairmount primary schools and Woonsocket Middle School to provide coordinated health, education, and social services for children and their families. CCF collaborates with the schools:

• to help children succeed inside and outside the classroom

• to provide supports to families so they will be healthy and strong

• and to build partnerships with other organizations to maximize services for families

Our COZ encourages parents to participate in their child's learning, improves school attendance, and improves academic and social performance.

CCF works cooperatively with the Fairmount neighborhood schools and Woonsocket Middle School on the following: PTO meetings, School Improvement Teams, Family Story Hours, Parent Involvement, and Family Events. As stated by Rhode Island Monthly, "Top Ten Charities"------"The idea is simple: work with the community to help children and families succeed. Consolidate services in one place, using the schools - already a cornerstone of family life - as a base."

Woonsocket's COZ provides family supports to improve home/school communication: translators for parents/teachers conferences, screenings, special education and other school/home meetings, as needed; and provides materials to support parent/teacher conferences and report card releases.
